Beauty Roundup: 06/18/20

Hello beauty babes! I’m starting a weekly THANG to share and feature some of my favorite content on the web. One of the things I love about makeup is that no matter your race, religion, language, or favorite ice cream (mine is chocolate/peanut butter), we are all sisters! The online beauty community has given me an incredible support system– and I want to share that wealth of knowledge with you.

With that being said, here are…

5 Ways To Get In On The Distressed Sneaker Trend

You guys. Lately I’ve been DYING over this trend in fashion. Bloggers & influencers have been showing off their distressed luxury sneakers everywhere and I am OBSESSED.

Rocking the P448 sneakers, featured below.

Let’s be real though. Not everyone can afford to drop $500 on a pair of Golden Goose Superstars (the OG, which I’ll talk about in a moment), so I’ve put together a list of quality sneaks that will get you in on that worn-in, Instagram-ready look.

1. Golden Goose 'Superstar'

Ahh Golden Goose (or Golden Goose Deluxe Brand – GGDB). The shoe that started it all. These babies are handmade in Italy, and have seen a giant surge in popularity over the last year. No doubt they are one of the hottest sneakers of 2020.

The good– they are the original. When someone says ‘luxury sneakers’, I guarantee an image of a style influencer wearing these in a chic outfit at a bistro table flashes across your mind. They’re made with top-quality materials and actually have a small, hidden wedge insole for a bit of extra height. They also come in SO MANY styles and colors. You can also earn cash back by using JEWEL to shop for these on SSense! Here are a few of my favorites:

The bad– obviously, the price. Haha. Unless you have a magical money tree growing in your backyard, these are probably out of your range of possibilities. If you’re lucky, you can occasionally find them on sale. You can also find replicas on DHGate, although I don’t know if I’d risk that :p

2. P448 'John' (my personal favorite)

So, you probably haven’t heard of this brand before (unless you’re a huge shoe fanatic like me), but I personally love it. After I got my first pair, I pretty much became a collector.

P448 is another luxury sneaker brand from Italy, and their shoes are handcrafted with the finest materials and butter-soft leather. And the best part? They’re a lot more affordable than Golden Goose, especially when you can usually find a pair for $140-$170. If you see one you like, JUMP ON IT because they sell out quick.

The P448 ‘John’ is a great casual trainer that will help you get in on this trend if you still want a quality shoe. They’re easily the most comfortable sneaker I’ve ever worn (even more than GG in my opinion), and they also come in a huge variety of SUPER CUTE styles. One of my favorite pairs is actually on sale for just $171!

These are sold in Italian sizes, but you can find a conversion chart on the Nordstrom website. I’ve found that they run true-to-size, and again, so comfortable and stylish. These are the perfect blend of quality, style, and price. You can also check out my video review of P448 sneakers for a more in-depth review and on-foot shots here.

3. Vintage Havana 'Gadol'

Vintage Havana also makes a sneaker similar in styling to the Golden Goose (apparently we’re all obsessed with star logos on our shoes). This is a much more affordable option than Golden Goose or P448, but still high-quality.

Most big-name retailers don’t carry this brand, so the whole shipping/returns situation can be a little more tricky. They also have a much smaller selection of styles, but here are a few that I like:

Not sure if these count as ‘luxury sneakers’ since they’re made with a synthetic leather, but that can be an upside if you’re searching for a more vegan-sneaker alternative. Still cute and comfortable.

4. Goodnight Macaroon 'Vanessa'

Also not available from bigger retailers, the Goodnight Macaroon ‘Vanessa’ Star Distressed sneakers are arguably the best GG dupes I’ve come across. They sport that iconic star with distressed detailing along the sole, and they’re currently available in only 6 styles.

Personally, I haven’t tried these, but from researching reviews I can tell they’re not quite as high on the comfort scale. They are made with real leather and also have a platform insole like most of the shoes on this list, so these are definitely a good option if you want to achieve the look on a budget.

5. SHEIN 'Star Patch' Low Top

If you’re on a budget, these are the best option for you. You’re obviously not going to be wearing these for years to come at this price, but they’re still a great entry into the worn-in shoe trend.

With hundreds of 5-star reviews, it’s hard to argue that these aren’t worth it. If you’re unsure about making this trend work with your vibe and wardrobe, definitely give these babies a try!

Whatever you choose, I suggest you start planning a photoshoot with one of these gorgeous pairs because this trend is edgy, eye-catching, and it’s not going away anytime soon!

BH Cosmetics Weekend Vibes Collection Review

Before buying this collection, I was skeptical. I had bought BH Cosmetic brushes before and loved them, but had never actually bought any of their makeup products. I had no idea if they would be good or not. Now that i’ve tested this collection out, i’m here to spill all the details!

Belgian Waffle Bronzer & Highlight Palette

First of all, the packaging is SO cute and feels nice and sturdy. The bronzers blend really beautifully. The only thing that’s not great is that the darkest bronze shade really isn’t that dark, so it won’t work for you if you if you have dark skin, which is a bummer.

But the highlights, let me tell you…! They are bomb! The colors are great and the range is good too, so no matter your skin tone you’ll have one you can use. Plus, they are BLINDING! Don’t get me wrong, you can make it subtle if you want to, but they won’t disappoint.

Bellini Blush Palette

The colors in this palette range from a very soft and light peachy pink to a red peach color. It’s a great range and all of them are beautifully pigmented and blend seamlessly!

Mimosa Eyeshadow Palette

This 16 color eyeshadow palette has juicy hues that’ll make your mouth water. Reds, oranges, yellows, pinks, and neutrals. Basically all the sassy AND classy that you need in a palette. Both the shimmers and mattes blend easily and are very pigmented. The shimmers are my favorite because they really pack a punch!

So Extra High Shine Plumping Gloss Duo (Chai Latte)

As far as plumping goes, I didn’t notice much from this gloss. Both the colors in the duo are extremely beautiful and have a great, smooth, and moisturizing texture.

After trying this collection out, I am convinced that BH Cosmetics is definitely underrated and deserves more hype. Seriously everything was beautiful and worked so well (other than that the bronzer needed a better range). I’ll leave my video review below so you can see a more in-depth review and try-on. 💜

Love, Olivia
